DYWIDAG Systems International (DSI) came to Concept with the intention of developing a CD-ROM based Product Catalogue, designed around the existing printed version of the DSI Catalogue.
Through working with DSI in the development phase, Concept came up with a design and functionality which replicated the look and feel of the existing catalogue. All documents within the catalogue were PDF allowing the user to view and print the documents, all from within a DSI styled user interface. The CD also contained information about the company, its history and locations throughout Australia.
In early 2004, DSI approached Concept to dramatically update the CD Catalogue. Due to massive expansion in the company whereby DSI bought out companies in Canade, the USA, South Africa and Europe, the Catalogue had to be redesigned to incorporate separate Catalogues for not only Australia’s operations and products, but also for the other international divisions of the company.
Concept revised the design to incorporate a “world aesthetic”, allowing quick identification of the branch of DSI the CD related to. Concept also refined our original design, adding fast menu animations of rock bolts zipping on and off screen, and generally improving performance of the multimedia application.
In mid 2004, DSI approached Concept to create 6 short 3D animations to be used as an introduction and background to a large mining exhibition presentation. These animations covered the DSI Rock Bolting Product range, their features and installation techniques.
The latest version of the DSI CD-ROM Catalogue has the 3D animations incorporated into the CD, allowing the user to not only be able to view and print the specifications on all DSI products, but also to see the rock bolts in action with voice over and music.
DSI continually up the bar in the marketing material they require, and Concept is always glad to step up to see what the next challenge will be.
