The Hunter Institute of Mental Health approached Concept to design, author and produce the Moving Forward CD-ROM resource in January 2002. The HIMH had a rough outline of what was required, and Concept set about creating detailed flowcharts for the multiple sections and hundreds of documents which needed to be displayed. Initial designs for the interface were also created and sent to the HIMH for approval.
Once these designs and flowcharts were approved, Concept got stuck into creating the multimedia components and structure of this huge project. Each section (there were 14 in total) required specific designs and photography to match that section. Concept carried out a photographic shoot at the HIMH to gather suitable images which were then incorporated into the Graphical User Interface throughout the resource.
Other requirements of the project were:
- Recording and insertion of a piece to camera by the Intitutes Director.
- An animated introduction to the resource with voice over and music.
- Incorporation of over 200 documents, all viewable and printable from within the user interface.
- An animated “Site Map” which allowed the user to navigate to documents very quickly in an easy to use and effective manner.
- Design and production of A0 sized posters, A3 sized posters and three fold full colour glossy brochures.
The CD-ROM package was launched in October 2002, and received much media attention. Moving Forward had an initial run of 500 copies, but this was soon increased to a further 500 copies due to the overwhelming positive response to the resource.
