The HIMH came to CCC with the concept of creating a resource for use in Universities to highlight two key fields – Education and Journalism. The resources were designed to give students of Education and Journalism an insight into the issues and scenarios they may come across in their chosen fields.

The resource was a combination of CD-ROM based learning with downloadable and printable documents, case study video in the form of scripted drama and presenter to camera, a VHS with copies of the video case studies and supporting printed material for use in University student tutorial time. The CD-ROM was produced as a version for lecturers and a version for students to allow resource material which could be used by both groups.

The initial run of 500 copies was distributed thoughout Australian universities, and a further run of 500 copies was also produced. The resource is currently in use in over 50 universities in Australia and has won an award for Excellence in Mental Health Education in early 2004.

CCC has recently completed the Supplement to the original CD-ROM Resource which, after review by the funding bodies, has already been increased from a run of 500 to 1000 CD-ROMs. The supplement also contains a full scripted drama case study, and printable/downloadable material, as well as examples for both education and journalism students. The two supplement CDs will be distributed throughout Australia in January 2005.

CCC’s involvement in these projects was from initiation, through development, scriptwriting, pre production, production and post production, CD-ROM authoring, testing, through design and print of all material for the resource. All video was shot in the Newcastle area using Newcastle Crew and Cast, and post production completed at CCC’s Mayfield Studio.
